I've narrowed down my choices in airline to rapid air's maxline or fastpipe.

I really like the fastpipe stuff but my main problem with it, other than price, is you can't seem to find extra pipe unless you buy a pallet full. Can you get this is smaller quantities? The smallest I've found was on amazon for around 300' and its 800$+!!!

Has anyone found it in smaller quantities?

Sorry was in a hurry. I'm looking at 3/4" and that kit you linked is what my plan was. But I need say another 50' of pipe and I'd rather not buy a second 400$+ kit just for 3 pieces of pipe. Glad to hear your happy with the kit.

No, but I actually posted in that thread back when Mitch was still posting here.

That said I think I answered my question. I was actually looking on Rapidair's site to find Mitch's contact info and noticed they have a store. They have individual pipe for sale there. ~18$ for one 7'6" stick of 3/4".

Now I have to do some math and figure out how much its going to cost me. I really like this stuff, but damn is it expensive!

I would be all for a hybrid system with simple adapters to npt. The advantage of that stuff is to be able to make a simple home run or maybe a T. For a lot of places simple screwed pipe still makes some sense, would use 1/2 if I could, design to make most of it from ready made, not all of it has to go overhead, some above shelves maybe installed step ladder, get wild man. You can even fuss with it and make changes as you say,,,, duh when you look at it down the road.
The air system for my shop is so better than the original I design 30 yrs ago. Know right where with the simple,,, not always the least but its a consideration.

If I am going to pipe 2 stage and have more than 1 station outlet I add a service valve right on the end of the pipe prior to any additional equipment like hoses or filter regs.
This is one of my faves, I plumbed a little of it from a revision and used the fittings and ports at hand and any improvement would be irrelevant. Delivers more than it needs to a hose reel. No drip leg, only an extra bushing to all the use of a neat 90 I already had.
Its all old stuff, 25 yr rapid reel, 25 yr black HF hose was out in the weather for 15/20, had about 25 ft cut off so far, could probably roll a 1/2 ball bearing down it... ha. Been blown up 24/7 for so long. I felt sorry for it a few years ago and brought it inside where it belonged and made the service valve local friendly, duh, simply shut it off when done.

I did the kit luckily it is enough for what I need right now. I did land up needing an extra coupler, and a tee, just got them off Amazon. Yea for pipe I think direct is the only option without buying a full kit.

If I was using some kind of coiled line would tend to want 2 adapters and using it up in ceilings where no one cared all that much if it was fussy straight. The advantage of a branch or t isnt really multiple users but it makes for a large portinon of the main to be larger for single users. Multiple users are often as well served by a size own smaller home run.

A steel pipe is a lot closer to 7/8 than 3/4 and a 1/2 is almost 5/8 and I have even dressed some ******* in a turn or 2 with a 5/8 drill bit. Whats the id of these ready pipes? They a hose or a pipe?

Mine is a hybrid type of 3/4 and 1/2. Of course I found some more 3/4 just after I did it but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, My place is tall and I had an overhead run with 1 t in it, big up and over loop. Its a really good fundamental design but this is all the 3/4 after it leaves the receiver,,, whoops,, be back later.
Put this together on the floor and it feeds 3 runs of 1/2 connected to it. So about 20 ft of it and 3 turns are 3 4 and then mostly straight, 1 elbow in one and 2 turns in another to the hydrant disconnect.

My ideal is like pic in post 7, all screwed to the reel and the only connector at the end for the user, never move a section of hose from one hydrant to another. Absolute intentional effort to remove absolutely everything not needed. Best disconnect means they make.
Same for the drains. valve on each vessel to a common pipe thru the wall. This was actually one of my fave little builds. I had had it,,, everything was where it needed to be and nothing kills the moment like fussing with a jug and some ****. I found a pile of copper we scrapped, old water ine and all the adapters, I had to flare 1 fitting, the rest I found in about an hour and simply assembled the drains.

I used the 3/4" Maxline kit and have been very pleased with it.7997da0924aa4846d3e78f4cbedbbdaf.jpg986d5880ffac03c279c6c2bb7cd4ed02.jpge8c5081dea30aeb0cf973865f5d855c5.jpg
