OK...still have NOT bought a water hose reel. I'm getting tired of jockeying hose around.

Was thinking of getting one of these for mounting inside the garage. I would pull the hose outside to wash the cars or for feeding the power washer (if the pressure tests ok).

http://www.rapidreel.com/

10 year warranty. Takes up to 100ft of 3/4" hose, too.

Any experience? Looks like they get decent reviews.

Deciding on which would work best in the shop:

I would definitely go with the second one. with that design, if you find that the hose gets tangled or falls off the reel, you can fab a fairlead to keep it in check. that would be much harder to do with the first one....

or, better yet, just find one that already has one on it.

Fairlead?

There is a braking system on the reel that supposedly prevents it from unwinding and such.

I figured the first one might be better since I will be dragging the hose out the door and likely the reel will be on a side wall. Still have to scope things out...

My Dad has the wheel mounted portable, and loves it. It is very high quality. I was looking at getting the front facing one from Amazon.

Thanks for the headsup....they're cheaper on there, too!

something like this, to keep the hose spooling out straight, even when you pull it sideways.

I have two Rapid Reels. Love 'em, way worth the money vs. the plastic stuff. The best price I found was through Ace Hardware. They had the lowest price, plus it was easy to find an online 10% off coupon, plus free shipping to your nearest Ace store. I think I paid $78 total for the exact same reel that was up to more than twice that through Griot's Garage.

Ok. I think you just confirmed my decision.

Now to find some decent 3/4" hose from Ace...

-edit-

Wait....did you mean AceHardwareOutlet.com? That's not the same thing as AceHardware.com

Not a bad hose but I prefer the Goodyear black rubber pro hoses, it is what is required of the neutral service. Goodyear use to make a pro gray hose that was great for homes as it blended in well and did not stick out much.

No, Ace Hardware's own site, the other one is just an individual store that couldn't deliver to your local outlet.

Gosh, I just did a search at Ace and it looks like they don't even carry them anymore.

Bmwpower, I sell raid reel's industrial line of pressure washers reels and have for 15 years or so. Their quality isn't what it used to be, but you will be very happy with the reel. When I say their quality is't what it used to be, competetive pressure has forced them to cheapen the product somewhat and go with a less expensive swivel. But you must realize they used to build a tank of a reel and pricing was high.

They still have a great product and is fine for home use, even heavy home use, you will love it.

As far as checking the water volume through it for your pressure washer, Take a 5 gal. bucket, your hose and a watch with a second hand, and see if you can fill the bucket up in 1 min. or less. Assuming your washer is 3gpm or less, if you can fill the bucket up or close to it in 1 min. you'll be fine. This allows a little cushion in case someone flushs a toilet while you are washing.

In making your choice, pick the one that will allow you to pull and rewind the hose straight off the reel. If you have too much angle it will be a pain to rewind.
