This is a Armstrong Mfg Co. vise. Not the traditional Armstrong, but Armstrong Mfg out of Bridgeport, CT. Another member gave me some info on the company and said that they were around during the 1920's. I have tried here and on other forums to get info on this vice and its design but many are stumped. It has a really neat design and functions fine. I cannot see the Patent numbers as they are blocked by the adjusting pin. This vise has an adjusting mechanism that allows it to slide into 3 different sizes. Weighs around 35 lbs. Has TEETH. Could have seen use on a ship, but that is not known. Any questions I will do my best to answer. I am going to say $85 + shipping. I can fit this in a large flat rate box (I think), which will cost $15.00. If not, I will cover the rest. My price is at 85 because I do not know enough about it. It is only worth what someone is willing to pay, so I will take a reasonable offer. I would also appreciate any additional info on this specific vise.
UPDATE: Found some info on this. So it is mainly a steamfitters/plumbers vice. First adjustment is for holding pipes 1/8" to 1". Second adjustment is for 2" pipes. 3rd from 2 1/2" to 3". Has steel-faced jaws. This vise seems VERY old. Other articles are dated in the 1910's with the info on this.
