Ratchet locks up in one spot new armstrong

Maxx 88 tooth flex 1/4 the matco made one
when spinning by hand it has a bad spot where I have to try hard to keep it rotating it's in the same spot every revolution I bought it " new without packaging" does it need oil or is this a defect?

Spin it to where it the spot where its hard to move, then open up and inspect the teeth. You probably need a rebuild kit. If you got it off ebay, notify the seller.

Sounds unlikely to me that oil will fix it, but stranger things have happened.

I agree that it needs to be inspected and possibly be rebuilt.

Also, it's not Matco-made but the other way around: Matco resells these things that Armstrong manufactures. Matco only manufactures toolboxes. The rest of their stuff is rebranded.

I had the same problem with a Taiwan made DeWalt ratchet...it was almost impossible to see the defect on the teeth that was causing the hang-up when I opened the cover. I called them and they sent out a new ratchet no questions asked. Just tell the seller it is defective. Good luck.

Put some lube in it and then spin it with a cordless drill for a bit.

Dismantle, clean, re-oil.

No they are the exact same. As stated above Armstrong makes these ratchets for matco.

It's from eBay. I saw them on there. You have buyer protection so if the seller doesn't want to help report to eBay and they will basically refund you.

Just email Matco and they'll probably send you a rebuild for free.

That's a lot easier than getting into a big headache with the ebay seller....

I haven't had luck with Matco sending a rebuild kit. They wanted me to send in the ratchet. BTW, got the SK sockets, thanks.

OP: I would clean it and lube with superlube
