Where ever they fit. Alternating head and to handle. Some are left to right some are front to back. Close to their drive size sockets and extentions

I've got mine in a drawer, and I'm out of space. I've seen a couple boxes where guys have the ratchets and sockets up top with the lid up, and there is a lot more space. I'm doing that this year.

If seem a few guys that hand theirs on the side upsidedown. Either use rubber tubing and slide the handle in them, I've seen some guys use a cheap socket set welded to a bar, stick the drive in the socket and it isn't going anywhere! I've also seen some type of Chinese finger cuff looking think made out of paracord. It looked sweet! You pushed it in and it held itself by the weight of the drive. Then to take it out just push up a little into the finger cuff and twist as you take it out. Once again all of these were on the outside of the box!

I also keep one ratchet of each (my most used ratchet) in the socket drawer of the 3/8 and 1/2 sockets.

Unfortuately I belong to the "throw it in the rachet drawer" group here. One day I hope to have a big nice Mac or Snap On or Matco or Cornwell box like a lot of guys here and when that day comes then I'll have plenty of space to organize in. Heck, a new Harbor Freight would even be nice for me. I keep buying tools but I haven't bought any more boxes. See my issue here? Lol

Edit... Disregard, I wasn't in tune with tool box organization...typical newb me. Lol

Thanks man; appreciate it. I will in the near future. I have a few new items and two new service carts, so I plan on it.

LOL. My box is always organized and clean.

I used your videos in a staff meetings, to which I have been the recipient of increased organization.. in the staff and their approach to the workplace environment.

I'd DEFINITELY like to see your take on Service Cart organization, since we've got a few of those rolling around..

FYI: I've used tips from your top drawer to reorganize a few things in my own box.

Not even close to the amount others on here have, but my little collection does pretty much all I need from it (there's some specialist Torx and triple squares with socket adapters in another drawer)

ratchets_zps924baa00.jpg

1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 in drive ratchets on the right, ratcheting spanners (wrenches) on the left (metric) and from the top; 1/2" 12pt shallow (metric, 20-32), 3/8" 6pt deep (metric, 8-19), 1/4" & 3/8" Torx (8-55, plus 1/2" drive T60), 1/4" & 3/8" E-Torx (I forget what sizes - 4 to 16?) and 1/4" 6pt shallow (metric, 4 to 14). Various extensions (some with most used sockets on, ready to go) and adapters, step-ups, step-downs, and the BluePoint mini bit ratchets on the left.

The ratchets themselves are shadowed - they're the only things in my whole toolbox that are shadowed in. I found a perfect thickness piece of dense foam, cut out the shapes of the ratchets and just laid it in on top of the black rubber matting lining the drawer. The bit of grey foam, which is about 1.5cm square, is just there to provide a border, and stop the shadow foam from moving (I didn't want to glue it down in case changed the drawer layout around). It just stops the ratchets rolling around...
