Ratchet parts question ?

I have a question for the ratchet gurus.
The retaining clip that holds the ratchet head in on SK and some RHFT Craftsman ratchets.
What is the proper name and where can they sourced ?

Have you tried Grainger or MSC? I would call it a "retaining clip". It comes in the kits from Cman, so I would take a sample to a hardware store or Grainger/MSC/industrial supply company and I would think that they can match it up for you.

As far as I know, you can't find those clips at the hardware store or supply store. They would only be available from the manufacturer or a donor ratchet.

What if you sent the ratchet back to SK for warranty? Or they even just mailed you the kit?

a few months ago, i decided to repair several SK ratchets i had laying around.
a quick email to SK customer service and the kits were on the way.
all kits included a new snap ring.

Go to sears and ask for one out of an used kit

Granger, no.
I did check MSC 's website and fastenal and several spring mfrs.
Local Ace and Sears hardware were both a no go.
I would not feel right about emailing SK about something like the clip for another brand.
They have been great about kits for my ratchets in the past,besides the SK retainers would not help me on the Craftsman ratchet.

Either find something that will work or buy a rebuild kit off ebay when one comes up.

I can't help but wonder if there's any possibility the little circular-shaped spring clip you're talking about might be similar to one found in any number of offshore-made cheapie ratchets, which can be found at any swap meet, thrift store, Goodwill, St. Vinnie's around the country for next to nothing.

If it fits in the hole, it's a clip, right? Just a matter of finding the correct diameter/thickness.
Maybe that's going at it the long way, but it's a possible solution.

They are called square wire retaining rings and good luck finding a place that will sell you a quantity of one. I tried to get one for a Duro ratchet that I picked up and couldn't find a place that would sell me just a single unit. You're best bet is to find a cosmetically defective ratchet and pull the ring out of it.

As has been previously written, if you have a SK ratchet then they'll send you the kit for free.

Do you need just one? I have a few of them in my ratchet rebuild kit if you want one. I assume you need a 3/8" ratchet retaining ring, for the RHFT CM ratchets?
