ratchet recommendation

I am looking for a good ratchet that also kind of works like a ratcheting screwdriver I don't know what you would call this style ratchet

Well I would assume the Blackhawk/Proto one might be ok but I have not personally played with one. Best advise go around and play with a few I guess or start watching Videos

I would say if you want a quality ratchet go with either snap on or mac.once you buy one you'll never go back. So smooth.

I have a few snap on ratchets I have never had mac I have not seen this style wrench on the truck though

I have both types - the rotator in 3/8 by Stanley and the 1/4 by Blackhawk. And I have the roto ratchet by Husky in 3/8 and Gearwrench in 1/4.

Harbor Freight also has the roto ratchet. I don't think the Husky is available any more as I got the 3/8 for $6 on closeout at Home Depot.

The Stanley rotator is good for tight locations after you break the fastener loose. But the handle on it and the Blackhawk has a tendency to move around (rotate) as you try pulling on it making it clumsy. It's a specialty tool that really is only handy on rare occasions.

The roto ratchets are much easier to use and once you have broken a fastener loose, you can rotate it to use like a ratcheting screwdriver (if you have the room). I use the Husky much more than I would ever use the Stanley rotator.

I have the Gearwrench and used to have the Harbor Freight. The Gearwrench ones are way way smoother. I think my girl got them for me for 30-35 bucks for 3/8" and 1/4" at advance auto.
