Awhile back; they started making the repair kits again, for those older ratchets at Sears.... try your local Sears store and see if they have a kit for you. Good luck! :)

A while back a rumor started that the repair kits for the older ratchets were available. I tried my local Sears and no luck. Has anyone been able to get such a kit from Sears?

I have a 44975 with a D-post pawl and oiler. It was replaced by 44985 with a tang pawl and no oiler.

I may be beating a dead horse, I dunno, but is there any source for repair kits for ratchets that were made before they were stamped with product numbers? Say, the '50-'59 ratchets (or their replacement, the "V" selector rats?)

I personally have seen the rebuilds for the similar type ratchets; they did not have the oiler however, I don't know if there was a difference between the oiler and non oiler styles.

I am not aware of any new repair kits for the "v" selector ratchets; when I worked at Sears we used to "fix" them by taking apart various ratchets and building a good one out of the old returns. If you speak to the PMT or find a friendly sales person; you could look through the returns and find parts to repair your vintage ratchet. We fixed the vintage stuff for fun sometimes or just to make someone happy... obviously; this was out of the range of normal customer service and typically, if they don't make the repair kit...your SOL. You would get the currently shipping model or in my case; I would let the customer pick and choose from the rebuilds, a ratchet they preferred. There are rebuild kits in the used NOS market; they pop up on ebay but I have never seen the "v" style for sale from anyone. Using used parts to get a working ratchet together; is the only way I know to fix those obsolete ratchet that I know of. Good luck! :)
