Looking for a 72 tooth, quick release USA made ratchet. Trying to avoid Snap On prices so the FR80 is out ((really, I promise it's out) (it's not for me either)). If I am going import, I have the ratchet picked out. Thanks for the ideas, I am sure there are brands out there I am not thinking of. Oh, I don't have access to tool trucks.

Not sure if Armstrong is quick release but 88 tooth made in the USA ratchet is good enough for me.

I think your only fine tooth quick release ratchets are going to be imports or Snap On. I cant think of any. You can still find USA Craftsman 60t low profile ratchets on ebay.

The only non tool truck US made ratchet with a quick release I can think of is the Proto premium Pear head ratchet but, it only has 45 teeth.

There are many imports available though. :dunno:

The problem is the quick release. There's less demand for that among users of premium tools, so there are fewer US options.

If you decide to give up on the quick release, I'd say to go for a 72 tooth Williams B-52a or B-53a.

If you absolutely need a quick release, the Kobalt, Pittsburgh Pro, or any other Taiwan brand in 72t are pretty much the exact same (pretty decent) Rotar ratchet. Whichever one is cheapest is the best buy.

While not 72 -a 60t low profile as mentioned by Brownsfan might be it
You're not giving up much from 72 dropping to 60. (Refer to chart below)

Thanks for all the input. The quick release isn't a decision I can make for them. It looks like I'll be going with a NOS Craftsman thin profile 60t. From what I understand they're pretty nice.

Not us made, but if you're not going the premium route the husky "pro" ratchets are darn nice for how cheap they are. I've purposely abused husky ratchets and was going to toss it but the darn thing hasn't broke yet. It's not snap on smooth, but it's smoother than kobalt.

I have the set. They are really nice. The 1/2dr is a little bulky but still good. They should work fine.

Does it have to be new??

The older raised panel CM round head/fine tooth/quick release ratchets with speeder rings are some of the nicest ratchets ever made. You should be able to find one on Ebay.

I don't know how many teeth those are but I agree - those are some of the most durable, slick ratchets I've used.

I don't think these are anywhere near 72T :dunno:

The 3/8" RHFT have 41 teeth and two pawls for a total of 82 clicks. Comes as Easco, Allen, KD, Ridgid and maybe other brands with a more comfortable round knurled handle. Talking used or nos here of course.
