So I picked this ratchet up at a sale today. No idea who made it or if it was specially made then what speciality it was meant for ?

3/8 " drive with push through plug, double flex and only stamped markings on it is "AC" in a circle. It is very stout and well built so whoever made it did a very good job.

Any thoughts Garage Journal brothers ?

Thanks for any help in advance

AC DELCO tool, for spark plugs in tight places.

I'd love to see the guts on that puppy. Any chance of you undoing the two screws and posting some pics?

a c spark plugs?

I'd guess for alignments.

bonneyman, Cranium, AC delco was my first thought also. Googled it and found very little information other than one other thread on another site which showed the same ratchet. Of course the other thread was asking the same questions. I believe you are correct on the AC Delco/Spark Plug thing

bobcatdan is onto something also. The ratchet looks strikingly similiar, at least to me, to some Mac alignment ratchets. I figure Mac perhaps made the ratchet for AC Delco.

AC spark plug ratchet sold by AC to make it easier to change plugs on some V8 engines. They also made a right angle drive that you put your socket on and then used a ratchet on the end to loosen the plugs. These were around the 1970's that I saw them. Also had an AC tune up machine that worked fair considering it didn't have a scope on it.

Dumb question: Since that mechanism doesn't reverse, do you push the adapter through to the other side to reverse it?

bonneyman, You are correct sir, 20 teeth

Lx460, that Mac aligment ratchet is striking similar, thanks for the photo's. I was looking at that same ratchet you posted in person last night but neglected to get a count on the teeth to see if it was 20 clicks like the AC ratchet.
