Ratchet Wrench

I would like to get a good set of ratchet wrenches for the farm. Flex head would be a bonus. Looking at gear wrench and tekton right now liking the later. Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions?

I believe that GW quality has really dropped over the years. I have no experience with Tekton ratcheting wrenches, but some of their other tools seem pretty good, so I would have to vote Tekton.

I like the Tekton because they are 6 point but check out EZ red or Mountain if you prefer 12 point. My only complaint with the Tekton's is the heads are a little looser than I'd like.

The Blackhawk wrenches look really nice. They're expensive but they seem like they're at the upper end of the Taiwan made wrench scale.

I’ve got a set of Tekton flex head DBE ratcheting wrenches. Although they’re nice and have saved me a couple of times with hard to reach fasteners, I don’t like how loose the heads are. You almost have to hold the head in position while using them. Granted I haven’t really used them hard either so no idea how they’d hold up to heavy use.

At work I have SK and Snap On nonflex. The flex ones I have I don't use very often are Kobalt they seem ok. I think on some brands they have a screw that needs to be tightened if it gets to lose. I don't think you can go wrong with Tekton the other tools a have from them have been fine.

Gearwrench has really went down in quality in the last year especially. Tekton or Capri would be who I would look at. Or SK, Williams, Proto or something. The Williams can be found on Zoro significantly cheaper than anywhere else. Also OEM really has nice ratchets. Out of the ratchets I own my Capri is my go to it’s very smooth 2nd place is my Matco and 3rd probably my PowerBuilt. The Capri is available in flex head and non flex head and just like Tekton you get points if you buy it from their site to use towards other things.

I own the Tekton metric ratcheting box set (8mm-19mm). Highly recommended for DIY use. Excellent for hard to reach fasteners, and I like that they're 6 pt. My set is currently $92 via Amazon; the long pattern set is $130.

My vote would be for Tekton from Tekton.com so, you get free shipping,10% back in rewards points that spend like cash, and excellent warranty support.

The last thing I need is another open end wrench so, Tekton offers double ratcheting boxed end wrench sets.

I also feel that Gearwrench quality has slipped a bit in recent years. However, Gearwrench just updated some of their ratcheting wrench designs with longer lengths, wider beams, and 90 tooth ratcheting action. Although not nearly as cheap as earlier versions, these may be worth looking at.
