Wouldn't a ratcheting breaker bar just be a ratchet?

I have Snap On ratchet adapters in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 that I attach to breaker bars, not sure if they're any stronger than a regular ratchet, but I like the extra leverage, especially with lug nuts.

I have a vintage Proto long handle 1/2" dr ratchet that works well. Still use an old Thorsen non-ratcheting 1/2" breaker bar more than the Proto tho.

Snap On ratchet adapter in 1/2" is one of the best tool purchases I've made.

So what are these, just lower tooth count ratcheting mechanisms on breaker bars that also have a direct drive no-ratchet setting? Who uses them regularly and for what?
Yes, it's a more basic ratchet, with non-ratchet setting and a 180 flex. The key difference is: no ratcheting direction lever, and taller than a ratchet (thus requires more clearance). Think of it as a breaker bar + ratchet adapter.

Got this Husky ratcheting BB for xmas. Have used several HF breaker bars successfully but never a ratcheting one. If the Husky breaks.. hope nothing gets hurt.

HF has a 3/8 x 18" for $20:

I use it when my regular ratchet is too feeble to get something loose (can't be me that's feeble) but the fastener doesn't seem worthy of dragging out the 1/2" breaker bar or I don't feel like getting up to go get it or whatever. Handy!

And eventually the ratcheting mechanism breaks (but it takes some doing!) and then it becomes a regular ol breaker bar. But that's OK because it only cost $20 so you just throw that one in the car for emergencies and go get another one.
