My dad found this in an old truck he bought. It's s double sided ratcheting chuck key. I haven't ever seen one. Is it for a mill or something?

It's Harbor Freight model 95473. I got one for the bench top drill press I bought at a Habitat Re-Store that didn't have the correct sized key with it. It's worked OK so far for the last year I've used it.

Jacobs at one point made something similar. If you're stuck using a keyed chuck the ratcheting type key can speed things up a bit.

I was shocked at how smoothly it works. I do the tighten a bit, spin chuck, tighten a bit, spin chuck and tighten a bit method. Right or wrong that's how I was shown to do it as a kid. With this thing I know I would over tighten the first hole

That's nice. I have the "chuck key on a chain" with my drill press and it's a PITA to tighten the chuck because it's always hanging up on the @#$&* chain. One of these days, I'll find a keyless Albrecht like I use on my lathe and mills, but in the mean time, for $5.00 that might be worth a go if it'll fit my chuck.
