We use Greenlee and Panduit ratchet crimpers at work. I really don't need a pair, I don't do that many crimps at home. But I like to buy tools so looked online. Holy **** $300.

Now the ones at work, do thousands a year, so ya they got to be good. I see see 30-40 ones online, but wonder if they are any good for home use?

You go to store, all they got is those multi use ones, that crimp and strip, very little slection. They don't even have the big handles ones at the big box places or Sears.

Either way, anyone know of ratcheting crimper thats good enough for home, but not $$$$.

I understand paying for good tools. But at home, I may crimp a few a year or none.

Ya, I use the regular hand crimp ones. In industry they use the ratchet to make sure every crimp is good. When you do a hundred a day, you can get tired. Plus it sets the length right.

I don't need one for home use, which is why I don't have one. But I also don't need.....

Yes! As Kirbot says Sargent crimpers are excellent. They make several lines, all expensive.
Thing is, I've seen lots of Sargent clones in the past few years and they are typically pretty cheap and made in China :(

For occasional use ....by yourself.......where nobody would ever see you using them......and no one would know.......I bet the clones would work just fine.....probably.
I'm sure Harbor freight has loads.

airbuff ......who is completely without prejudice.

Actually, I ran into a Sargent ratcheting set awhile back that looked as though it ....might not ...have actually been ....made....here.

"Ideal" are pretty good. The frame is around 30$.

We use them at work for 12V terminals. For the more important stuff I use my "RF industries".

I use these two for my home business. I do a lot of connections and these 2 have not failed me yet.

Some of harbor freights stuff is absolute junk, but others are worth their weight in gold.

I have the one in the first link and used it as recently as last night.

As my friend commented, the tool is awesome. And you can't beat the price!

I am facing the same problem. I am a poor apprentice electrical fitter who needs to buy 3 different sets of crimpers (end ferrules, insulated lugs and non insulated lugs). The cheapest I can find them is $70-80 each, either buying made in taiwan ones from the local shop or ordering "NWS Germany" brand ones from chadstoolbox. Is there anywhere that might be cheaper? Should I try my hand at searching for some 2nd hand ones on ebay or any other sites?

I am in Australia so tools are alot more expensive here and generally poorer quality compared to in America. All the hardware stores only have the coaxial crimpers so I have to buy them online or at the specialist electrical store which is very expensive.
