Ratcheting Crimping Pliers

Can anyone recomend some good quality ratcheting crimping pliers. I have a job coming up where I will be wiring a car and will be using a lot of crimp type connectors. I would like all the crimps to be uniform but most important make good electrical contact. These don't have to be top of the line but I prefer to buy good quality tools even though they won't get a lot of use after this job.

Both of these models are good but, neither works well in cramped quarters. A long handled klein or channellock model works good then but, you can overcrimp with those.

I have the SARGENT 1028CP open-barrel crimping pliers and they are of excellent quality. If I were to purchase the ratcheting type for insulated terminals, I'd seriously look into the link above.

Thomas & Betts...these do a mil-spec crimp consistently.
Downside is that they don't work well in confined spaces and are a bit expensive.

Not to worry, I bought mine for $1.00

Pirate, just fyi so you don't have to look it up. The Toptul Crimpers go for $88.55.
Shipping to you would be another 12-15 I imagine as well. It is also one of the few tools that I have not used myself so you would have to reply on the comments from others on this site. But since I have sold 5 or 6 on the last couple weeks there should be plently of members to ask. (I'm pretty sure all the sales to date have been to members)

That looks more like a Ferrell crimper than a terminal crimper. In less you are building control panels you may not have much use for them.

i have those too and they work pretty damn good.

I like my Greenlee crimper. The HF seems to work ok as well, but not as nicely...

I'll second (okay 3rd) that. I did several wiring jobs over the summer with these. I also used Irwin's adjustable strippers (see photo) with good luck.

And of course the best ratcheting crimps on the face of the Earth are DMC's. If you walk into a shop that builds electrical engine harnesses for F-14 Tomcats, that's what you'll find there.
