Most of time I would use a standard screwdriver over a rachet screwdriver I would use my rachet screwdriver is when working around dashboards and doing window regulators

Projects around the house like hanging wire shelving and curtain rods or anything involving drywall anchors have me grabbing the ratcheting driver. For anything in the garage, the old school screwdrivers are put to use.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, but I find the ratcheting action to be bad for my wrists/hands with the repetitive motion and awkward movement. I'll take a proper screwdriver any day and if I have to drive lots/longer stuff I'll use my dewalt impact driver...I can use that thing like a scalpel given the practice I've had.

Found the exact opposite. The continuous repositioning of my hand on regular screwdrivers caused me endless wrist pain. That all went away when I got a ratcheting pistol grip.

no yankee screwdriver users?

I try to use it when i get a chance, hoping it will work great but always slightly dissapoints. Axial motion always pulls me out of screwhead and using it as ratchet is difficult as you cannot really push into the screw and ratchet at same time. For driving screws with a bit of resistance it take a little too much effort for my liking as well. On mine the bits rattle in holder and theyre not as easy to change as just popping in a magnetic bit.

I grab the 12V Max DeWalt Impact if I have a number of screws to do.
