Seems I have a mix of ratchets and sockets. Snap on, Craftsman and Allied

A lot of the larger items (longest ratchets, biggest diameter sockets) seem to be snap on. Except the largest (1 1/16 I think it was) is made by Bonney? Never heard of them. Another socket over an inch is very hard to read but think is says Worcester. Both that and the bonney one both say made in usa.

Strange thing about the bonney socket, instead of a square opening for a ratchet drive to fit into, it has a square drive attached to it. Other than putting a box wrench on it to turn it manually, I don't know....don't have a ratchet with a square opening : )

So what's a better ratchet, Craftsman or Snap on? Very old Snap on from the look of em

Guy posts about his Grandfathers tools and chooses an indefinite article instead of a definite article, and gets clowned on? Nice.

better ratchet? snap-on by far...

craftsman ratchets (at least the excessively common raised panels) for the most part simply function as a ratchet... every single one i've ever used was rough and clunky...

The very early Bonney ratchets were a one-way only design and had a male plug which had to be pulled out and re-inserted to reverse direction.

Could the larger sockets have been made to fit directly into the ratchet without the plug?

The snapon is gonna be considered the better and worth more but some of the older craftsman stuff is good bonny is a great brand too.

That old Bonney is cool. Never saw a socket with the male plug out like that. If you don't want those, post them in classifieds and someone here *will* buy them, as there are lots of Bonney collectors. The Worchester is Walden for sure, Walden is good stuff too, but not as collectible, more usable. Craftsman rachets aren't that great but are pretty tough, just not any bling there. - Paul
