i would love to see a rate this option on this board. there would be no need to quote, then type in your response to a thread. a simple thumbs up or thumbs down would make things a lot easier.

Why TF do people want to turn this site into a facebook page or twitter with a like button or ratings? Most of us here could give a **** about that social media ****. This forum is just fine the way it is.

No thanks. This forum is fine without thumbs up or down.

Nothing wrong with actually writing something useful as a response.

Personally I think that a like button discourages actual input and info. JMO

One of the best forums I ever belonged too went completely to **** after conforming to your typical social media format. You can keep that ****.

If 900 people like my post, or if 90 people hate my post, I don't care. My posts are questions, facts and opinions, generally. What in the would do I care if someone likes my question or opinion? As to liking or disliking facts... good grief, I care even less.

You can already rate a thread, which is too much, in my opinion.

We don't need more ego-stroking sycophant-breeding features here.

It wasn't all that long ago there was all kinds of guys losing their minds over some yahoo intentionally rating good threads with one star. I'd hate to see the drama over a dozen dislikes.

It'd be gawt damn pandemonium :willy_nil:willy_nil:bitchslap:twak:

Actual responses can be informative, interesting or funny. That's the pleasure of a good discussion board.

a simple thumbs up or thumbs down would make things a lot easier.

Someday somebody is going to write an algorithm which will automatically give posts a thumbs up/down so the user doesn't even have to bother reading them.

I visit various forums because they are not facebook. I want to actually see why someone "likes" or "dislikes" what I say, or what someone else says. You can learn a lot more from someone typing a sentence or two then you ever could just seeing that there are 3649 "likes" and 236 "dislikes".

My thoughts exactly. I’m a 41 year old guy who was still in college when myspace and facebook were getting popular, other than some guys I knew trying to use it to get laid, I never saw a use for any of that social media ****. I’d rather have a handful of real friends than hundreds of virtual friends.

Likes and thumbs up are for popularity and little else. People that don't know one way or the other will vote up the person or answer they know best. It allows people with no clue to contribute when they shouldn't.

I frequented a forum that added a like/dislike post system, tied to a user rating. It quickly became a popularity contest, with little relation to post quality. Those who disagreed with a consensus got "negged" into oblivion, much less discussion in general after the feature was released. There was a opt out feature, which I used after a week or so. I thought the concept was dumb in general.

What I would like is to disable pictures in quotes. Nothing worse than quoting 10 pics to say "nice" or whatever.

I'd like to see this leave. Clogs up the forum visually; and the only ratings I usually see are 1 or 5 stars.

Next thing you know you are going to be posting a ton of selfies wanting everyone telling you how beautiful you are, so you can feel good about yourself.....
Only if they're like turnthewrench 2.0's avatar.
