Your friend won't be able to hold his coffee in one hand and stir it with the other for long.
If it bothers you, get a new friend, this ones not so bright.

Stupid. Anyone that has used a large angle grinder with a cut off wheel knows they will at some point break one and when they break they fly apart with good force. With all the dangerous but fun stuff to do why bother with the simply stupid stuff?

That combination is a potential killer -- no kidding. A piece of that when it explodes (not if, when) has the potential to penetrate clothing like it is a plastic sheet and will penetrate deep into the body cavity where it can hit vital organs and or cut arteries. Do yourself a favor and clear the area if he ever turns it on while you are there. He'll need someone to dial 911 for him. This guy is a major candidate for a Darwin award, just don't be around when he wins.

I'd use it if I had to...but I'm all about having the right tool for the job.

I use a 4.5" disc on a 4" grinder all day but this is stupid.
Chip the disc and try and hold on to the grinder it while it jumps around from being so unbalanced.

take out an insurance policy on this clown, with YOU as the beneficiary. sounds like you might have a pretty good chance of a payoff.

Sounds like a good way to visit the er.

When I was rebuilding my camper I had to cut wood floor flush with the wall. I put a 5" wood circle saw blade on my air powered die grinder with no guard. It worked very well, but scared the hell outta me. Especially when I had it laying on the floor behind me while I was working, and I bumped the trigger wile reaching for something.:eyecrazy:

Not only dangerous, but stupid too!

My brother has a gas powered 14" abrasive saw.
I saw him shatter at least 3 blades when he was breaking down a vehicle a few weeks ago.

Even if your as careful as can be, eventually he is going to shatter one of those blade, and probably end up with bits of abrasive disc embedded in his stomach.

If he is really unlucky, and if he drops it when it shatters, I would be surprised if he really makes a mess out of his legs with it too. Or worse....

I look at it like this: what position is he physically going to be in while using this monstrosity? He's either going to be squatted down, knees wide apart, working with the thing and using his junk as a catcher's mitt when the disc flies apart, or he'll be standing and working on something about waist level... using his junk as a catcher's mitt when the disc flies apart.

Me? I make it a point to think "Am I going to take one to the nuts doing this?" whenever I'm out in my shop.
I've found that obsessively worrying about the family jewels, and maintaining the ability to use them (keeping in mind things like "I **** at one-armed push-ups," etc.), has kept me in one piece all these years.

Chop saw blade to The Boys is something way, way WAY down on my to-do list. If your buddy isn't worried about walking into the ER holding a ****** shop rag against his zipper, and carrying a Zip-lock bag with road-kill in the other hand, you shouldn't be either.

How old is he? Sometimes people do stuff that stupid just because they're young. I might have done something like that when I was 19. If he is a young kid, go back and convince him how instantly that thing will do permanent and serious harm when it goes. He may just have youthful invincibility dementia.

Now if he's 40 on the other hand, then maybe dumb is just a lifelong process for the guy. But pain is usually a pretty effective teacher so I'm guessing he is just a young kid that needs someone to really drive the point home about safety.

I'll give it a five.
I've never used a chop saw blade without a guard.

Was using a large sanding disk on an angle grinder and a piece of the disk broke off and hit me right in the :willy_nil
That was the first and last time that happened.

Pretty high on the danger scale.
I shouldnt talk. I'm currently nursing a sore left hand from my 4.5" angle grinder getting away from me (no gloves or guard on it). It 'caught' and popped outa one hand and into the other. No stitches since its more like a puncture wound than a gash but it hit bone on top of the knuckle. (I know, I know)

Im not sure about this one so I would vote a 5. I once had a 24" chop saw blade explode on me. Had I been in the way I probably would be maimed or dead. The guard for that machine was found rather quickly. Also had 4" grinding/cutoff wheels explode several times, they hurt bad/draw blood well enough for me not to want any bigger handheld tools.

Does he plan on wearing a FLAK or bullet proof vest while using this thing, he might be alive after using it.
