Rats, insulation and vapor barrier

Now that I have gotten the rats locked out, and trapping was successful, (thanks to a link I found on a search here), I am going to have the crawl space re insulated. Do to damage, all new insulation and a new vapor barrier. My question is should I go with the 6 mil on the ground, and call it good, or 12 mil that goes 12 inches up the foundation and is sealed pretty dang tight. With that they remove the rat ****, kill mold, and disinfect the wood. $1,500 verses $3,000.

The work looks nice, from what I have seen, and this includes a 5 year warranty. I have spent enough time under there knowing that it is not worth it for me to do the insulation myself. We plan on being in the house at least 10 more years. I live South of Seattle, so we don't have weather extremes. The whole family has bad allergies. I appreciate any thoughts.

I did crawl space clean outs for a year under the table. The 12 mil won't tear as easy and is worth the investment. Also make sure they don't overlap the wooden structures. it allows moisture to get to the beams.

Thanks. I am guessing they are calling it "encapsulation". I would think wood would have to breathe. I hate rats. Trapping them just became a game after a while.
