Re: $15 Kobalt cross force wrenches

CMan is selling the 6 point wrenches for $13.49/9 wrenches and the 12 point for 14.99. I checked out the Kobalts and liked the CMan wrenches better plus they are less expensive and the set contains and 9 instead of 8 wrenches. I guess Cman is farming out the RP wrenches to China - hope the quality doesn't drop too much. Still a good cheap wrench.

Here is the reason I bought them. I just did a brake job on a RAV4 and needed a thin headed wrench...

Re: $15 Kobalt cross force wrenches

I stopped by Lowe's and checked out the crossforce wrenches, while a good price... I thought they were very short. Since I have gotten used to professional length wrenches; I just don't see myself buying wrenches without a decent amount of leverage. The chrome looked nice, though! :)

Are the Kobalt cross force wrenches $15 in store also?

Re: $15 Kobalt cross force wrenches

it said they were good through the 31'st. So I would still go and check. I just used mine tonight, and have no complaints about them. the finish is perfect on my set, the fit is excellent, and the cross force really is a nice touch. I still cant get over how someone will pay 150-180 for a set of snap-on, but cant bring them selves to spend 15 on a set of these. LMAO!! Gives me a chuckle every time.

Re: $15 Kobalt cross force wrenches

I bought them at $25/set. I've used them a bunch of times already, and they have easily earned the $15/set I ended up getting them for after price adjustment.

That being said, I agree that $80 for them is ludicrous. These are worth $30/set at best. Having seen the craftsman crossforce, and also owning the gear wrench set, I'm not sure what has been deemed superior about either of those.

Agreed.

*For my use* they are as good as any.

Where did you see the reference to the $15 being good thru the 31st ?

Re: $15 Kobalt cross force wrenches

BTW, according to lowes.com they're still $15 a set. Definately worth it at that price. The slight barrell extending off the wrench makes them useful in recessed places...

I picked up a set as well. Mine has virtually perfect chrome and machining. For $15, you can't go wrong. My only gripe is I hate when they skip sizes, and it looks like the skipped sizes aren't available to buy separately. I guess I will fill in the missing sizes with just standard non cross force wrenches as I find them.

This shroud/barrel is just the ticket for working on brass nuts or fuel fittings that are just below flush. Too little clearance to get a fuel line wrench on, too tight to get a socket in there and using a Lowe's bargain basement wrench that will reach (perfectly) saves a couple of hours removing the sub frame and associated parts and pieces

They aren't pedigreed by any stretch, but they saved me some time and didn't round off the fastener.

My application may not be encountered by most people, but I can do something else with a spare couple of hours ;)

Yeah, they're somewhat short, but a longer wrench wouldn't have fit where I needed it to

On Lowes.com they are $15/set. For some reason if I search "crossform" the listings show they @ $25/set but if you go to their specific pages and add to your cart... the $15/set price is what is listed.

The 31st reference was from the Lowes website:

"$14.98
Was: $79.97 (Save 81% thru 12/31/2011) "

I love mine for $13, haven't used them, but you just can't beat it.

But mine are also virtually flawless, not even water stains or anything minor. They could be a bit longer but for 69 cents a wrench you just can't go wrong.

This thread must read like the people sitting in the cheap seats bragging about how it's nice to sit up so high we can feel the breeze

May be, but cheap that works is OK in my book

Thanks for the clarification, I was browsing the Lowe's site this morning and saw the $24 price in the crossform listing. I didn't try to add any to the cart.

Math *****?

Even at $13?, $1.62/wrench, not sure how you got another $2 off.

At $15 they're $1.88/wrench.

saw them and passed on them. The box end just looked too thin. I don't want to be pressing down on a bolt/nut and have it snap.

There's a couple weird issues with the Lowes site. Whatever software they use seems to also be used by Home Depot, and perhaps Sears as well.

Some products will appear twice in search/result listings. One will have the price as whatever the current sale price is, but no "Was:" or "Savings" percentage, another will have those. All at the same time.

Others will display one price in the search results, but when you click on it it's a different price. I suppose this could be a simple caching issue, but it seems to last too long for that.

Those cross forms do that - they now display $24.98 in the search results, but $14.98 when you click on them. My guess is $24.98 will be the new price. The metric stubbies at my local store have a NORMAL price tag on them now for $11.98, but the SAE set next to them maintains the $9.98 sale tag. Both are online for $9.98. Guessing that $11.98 will be the new regular price.

We'll see what happens!

Yeah, and see, they were saying both stubby sets were ~$24.00 regular price.
And the Bench Dog Tools Bench Cookies, were $9.99 in store and on line, but soon after went up to $11.** in store, but still are $9.99 n line. Come with a nice wall mount holder too.

Re: $15 Kobalt cross force wrenches

Metric wrenches that skip 10mm... SERIOUSLY not ok...

My 2¢

 If you've got a late model GM vehicle, 10mm and 15mm are essential.
And if you've got to have Cross Force wrenches, the 8pc set's half price on-line only on the C-man web site. Picked up SAE and MM set last week. Oh yeah, they're made in USA too.
