So, I am wondering what to do with this King Seeley Belt Sander that is a hand me down from my Father.
It served me well in its current configuration but I really don't use it anymore....and it is taking up a lot of space in my garage.
So I posted up a thread about it, maybe I'd sell it?
Well zkling replied:
I'd throw away the base and store it somewhere. That stand is horribly inefficient.
What an Idea!!! Yes! That is what I am gonna do!
I could park it on a shelve and use it on a table when I need it!
I have a mini hobby table type sander and I decided this would be my inspiration for a new setup.

But, I cannot weld and I am not good with metal, I'll have to make it out of wood.
Well, if you didn't see the thread I posted, here is the King Seeley Sander my Father configures over 45 years ago to work in his wood shop.

This thing takes up a lot of floor space!
For as much as I use this, I should have did something long ago.
And since I don't use it much, making a table base out of wood is good enough for me.

So....working with some good old hard board shelving and 2X4 scraps, I got the motor mounting designed and the basic configuration set.
I glued and, using 5" wood screws, secured the 2X4's to the planks....it really is super solid...honest!

Then, I slotted the mounting holes for the sander so I could adjust the belt tension by moving the sander, to and fro, instead of moving the motor since the bolts for the motor are under the hollow base of the sander.

The old base of the sander is getting tossed...just using it as a bench before it gets tossed.

Well moving along....I got some work to still do, working on it more today because I need a on/off switch and maybe a little paint on the belt guard I made out of soffit trim tin. It's nice I can put it away on a shelve and still use it when I want....it isn't light, about 30 lbs, I am guessing...will have to weigh it someday....

Many thanks to "zkling" for the inspiration and a kick in the pants for his reply to my other thread.
Just goes to show you, you can directly effect other peoples lives with just a suggestion or observation!

Most excellent. I did catch it in the other thread and would have hated to see you sell it.
