so I had the idea to build a barn and I diden't have alot of cash so I def built on a budget. I built a 16x36 all steel and added a 12ft lean to on the side. I dident think I was ever gonna insulate it so I left that out of the equation. a few years later I figure insulating would be a good idea. I got some foam board from work and have done the walls. I just bought 1.5 inch styrofoam to go over that. Currently no idea for the ceiling. considering spray foam. Want to make sure I dont have any issues with condensation. I always heard you dont want to spray foam on a surface direct because you wont get that panel off if you should need to. Do I use a vapor barrier before spraying? I could slide some syrofoam in there as well. just looking for suggestions

I would do the vapor barrier or house wrap under the roof sheeting just for the reason of being able to take the roof off again.. with spray foam you don't need a vapor barrier, but in this case the insulation may last longer than the steel roofing.

I wouldn't want big sheets of sprayed foam just supported on the vapor barrier. You can cut foam with a knife so I don't see why it would be that hard to get a panel loose.

Spray insulation is a good example of spray glue.
I would not use it anyplace there is a chance I would want to get behind.

i have heard, that the closed cell spray foam if sprayed on a metal wall will basically bond to the surface. stuff gets rock hard.
