I have had an 8" Ryobi (I know cheap ****...it was a gift) bench grinder I've had for almost a decade. The other day I turned it on and saw some magic smoke out the back. It started not really wanting to start in the correct direction and with a jump start in the correct direction, it didn't really want to spin up to full speed. After some brief dis-assembly, I see some obvious issues. I am guessing this is the "motor-start" capacitor... which is obviously toast.
The motor was still working but was getting quite warm trying to run without this guy. Should I try to pick up another Cap with the same specs, or just toss the damn thing. I need a grinder so I can grind my boogered tig rods back to shape
