Re-purposing an engine stand?

Ok, the reason I never get anything done, is I have too many projects happening at once. Right now I'm:

1. Trying to organize my shop enough to work in.
2. Getting my attic prepped for more insulation (Blown In)
3. Installing new garage door openers (Liftmaster 3800s), which requires some re-wiring before insulation is blown in.
4. Installing new lighting in garage.

Anyway, I was hauling "stuff" out of my attic storage space this weekend and found my engine stand. Haven't used this thin in forever. Luckily it can be disassembled into 3 pieces and not really take up a lot of space.

Now, I can't quit thinking that there must be a good alternative use for this thing (besides holding engines). Maybe a light duty welding table?

Anyone ever find any other good uses for their engine stand?

I've seen them turned into tables.. But thats about it, I'm sure they could be used for lots more though. Welding jigs come to mind. They're a good solid platform to hold just about anything as long as you make the attachments necessary to hold it.

hold rear ends
hold a table/tray for holding tools next to you work area
TV tray
cut a plywood platform and use it as a cart
make a bracket to hold a welder, use a welding cart

On pirate 4x4 i've seen people turn them into a holder for a tubing bender. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically. I'll have to find pictures

If it is a 3-wheel stand, it will be to unstable to use for much. If it has four wheels, then go ahead and adapt it to other uses.

heres what I did with mine that was built in the 40"s check the wheels out
and that out bearcat 4 stroke weighs in around 275 lbs

I just bought a cheap one to use as a base for my bead roller. I bought the HF roller and am going to use it as a "starter kit" for a much beefier, deeper unit.

I built a crane arm with a cheap winch and use it to lift the roof off of my jeep (the engine stand isnt usually mounted on it so it slides right under the rear of the vehicle):

Gee, I can't imagine anyone doing such a thing :flipoff2:

Doesn't show it real well, but that's a JD2 bender on a four footed engine stand.

I have another one that has a Harbor Freight truck bed hoist on it and will be using two to make a rotisserie for Land Rover bulkheads so I can rotate them while patching rust holes.
