Have been trying to get a cost for a garage tube from the local Re-Verber-Ray representative for the last two days. Normally when you call someone they can tell you how much one of their units run. I have a 34x24 garage with 14 foot ceiling in one part 1/2 the garage. Called the local sales guy 5x and finally got an answer of, "Re-Verber-Ra is really picky about how they sell their products and I have to submit a drawing of your garage so they can quote a price on one of their units". Didn't know they had so many "configurations" and I'm thinking the sales guy is just a bit lazy and has other things to do. Called this morning and he said he'd get right on it, as of 8 hours later no word. Hate to have a service problem!

I bought a system from ebay. It wasn't reverb but the service has been good. It sat on the floor of my building for about one year. I went to install it on a sat and I needed a propane conversion kit. I called he answered and sent it imediately. I had it the followinf fri and finished the install

What brand did you end up getting? There's a number of them out there and I'd love to tell the lazy salesman that I bought somewhere else where they could give me a price. Tried to call Re-Verber-Ray directly but at 3pm their time the telephone message said they were closed. That's 3pm on a Tuesday!

I have the Omega II from Combustion Research, here's the URL. http://www.combustionresearch.com/

I called the company directly (not one of their retailers) and the receptionist passed me on to someone that helped me out. It has been awhile but I believe his name was Daryl. My shop is 26 x 28 with 11ft. ceiling. He asked me some very specific questions about doors, windows, what equipement and how many cars would normally be inside. He needed this info for the heat load calculation (he did not need a drawing).

I have a 20ft. straight configuration and it was around $800.00 for everything but the B-vent.

I have no problem recommending them to anyone.

Good luck,
Rich

Puttn,

What part of the country are you from? Maybe you just need to go to another Reverberray dealer. I'm in New Jersey, and got mine (with just a phone call) from a distributor in New York state (Sun Systems). The link is below. The gentleman's name is Johan, and he was very helpful. We handled everything over the phone.
Go onto the Detroit Radiant website (the makers of Reverberray) they have listings of all their distributors.

He finally called back and left a message that I needed two units, a 20 foot and 10 I believe is what he said and it was $2113! I'm somewhat baffled that I would need two with only 816 square feet. What's your guys take on that much tube?

I don't know what your ceiling configuration is but, I would think you could get away with a 50,000 BTU unit 30ft. long. It would be most effective run straight down the middle of the shop. With 14ft ceilings it may need to be a bit bigger than 50,000 BTU.

Like I said, my shop is 26 x 28 with 11ft ceilings and I have a 40,000 BTU 20ft long unit. It gets a bit confusing on the BTU issue because it is not a one to one comparison with forced air units. Radiant units require less BTUs but are only really efficient if left on all the time as they heat objects not air.

I would deffinately recommend you get quotes from at least three different sources before making a descision.

Good Luck,

Rich

My shop is 24'x32' with a 10' ceiling. R19 walls, R31 ceiling....My heater is a two-stage 40,000/28,000 BTU unit. Cost was right around $975. The tube length is only 15'. I would have gone with the 20' model, but I got too close to the overhead doors to go any longer.

I can't see how you would need two units...You have about 3700 cu. ft. more volume than I have, but it seems that you could run one longer unit right down the middle, and above any door hardware, etc.

Here's a pic of mine:

I love mine. In fact my brother in law liked it so much he bought one also. Mine was around $1100-1200 range.
