Read only after a year

How about making threads read only after one year? Threads over one year old would be read only.

This would prevent digging up the past but, would allow a new thread to be started if someone needs more information.

I can see it working in some situations but what if a topic is still ongoing and it has taken longer to update than expected ?

What if a new member has something that could be relevant to the thread? Making a new thread to add to a conversation that's over a year old just because you don't like old threads being resurrected is preposterous...

You have just backed up what I posted.

I think some threads / topics do deserve to finish, but how you determine that I do no know.

That's what the search function is for, although it doesn't like minimum letter searches like SK.

Most of the older members are gone any way.

However the website software may not allow for this to happen.

I fail to see any benefit to this. Is this just because you see old threads being dug up and post being made. What is the harm in that? If it bothers ya just move on to the next thread.

Ryan has already stated it is a tuff one and in the end we will have to go along with what he says goes.
