Everyone must read the forum rules before posting. The sticky at the top.
I have been giving infractions for people not following the rules.
Thanks for your cooperation.

I feel your pain, haha
I've been interested & have looked at some stuff posted by "members", and I've seen numerous posts from you, to them, about not following the rules....:shocking:

I think people ignore the Stickies. Let's just keep bringing this one up to the top for a few days.

Good idea on the thread, wrenchr.

Thanks Bull!!!
Bumping before 72 hours is the main deal I'm running across.
Please for everyones fairness that posts here read the rules and this will run very smoothly.
If you have any questions about the rules please PM me and we will figure it out.

ive been saying it for years and ill say it again, there should be a minimum registration period (30 days or so) as well as a minimum postcount to be able to participate in the classifieds. many other forums do this, weeds out people who are just using this as a place to hawk their stuff without contributing anything as far as forum discussion. its only a matter of time before the scams start appearing....

If I lower the price of my item for sale by posting in the thread I made,Is that still a "bump"?

That is still a bump, it moves your thread to the top and if it is less than 72 hours you could get an infraction. If a question is asked by another member you are good to go. Once everyone is on the same page it will flow alot better and your thread will not get jammed back pages. My break is over at work, later!!!!

I disagree...mrb

If someone new comes here just to post a classified ad for a garage or tool related item then so be it. If the item is of interest and the price is right; the members benefit whether he's new or not. If the other areas of the site interest the seller/poster then he has the option to contribute to the discussion; if not, he has the option of moving on. Either way the classifieds is just a sub-section of the forum.

I have to agree that I would hate to miss out on a great item at a great price just because a person doesn't meet some preset forum posting or length of membership criteria.

Shopping or not shopping with them should be a personal choice. Many like to deal with seasoned members because of increased trust. As a newb I totally realize that.

The other problem with a certain post count to sell is that you tend to get a huge number of 'me too' in the topics just to get their post count up so they can sell. Clogs the board up and contributes almost nothing to the conversation.

Personally witnessed this happen on two other boards. Both ended up dropping the policy and just issuing warnings about dealing with noobs and 'scam and run' sellers

Please take the time to read the rules or pm a mod if you have a question.
The rules are stickied at the top of the classifieds.

I wold like to make a suggestion for a rule. Someone just posted 5 different for sale threads within minutes. I always try to put everything in one, theres no reason for multiples at the same time.

When I have a several totally unrelated pieces I'll often spread them out in a few topics.
If I have a lot of similar things I'll make one topic, but not if there all completely different.

Not sure what the problem is....

I agree with Kirbot. It makes no sense to list a screwdriver set with a Snap On hat with a craftsman ratchet with a Haynes manual, etc.

Lets keep it civil here please. and keep the comments in this thread to a minimum.
The main focus here is to get everyone on the same page in regards to the rules.

I would like to make a suggestion but didnt want to start a thread about it. When someone sells something in the classifieds then edits their post, please please PLEASE do not erase the price it sold for. Many times i have searched the forum to get an idea of value on an item only to find out the seller erased the price. Thanks!

Amen. It's very annoying when someone decides they have to post a dozen for sale threads so their threads can knock everyone else off the front page.

And if you WANT TO BUY something, put it in the WANTED section, not in the CLASSIFIEDS.

ALSO...it is annoying to see a new post in a Classified ad...thinking it may be more items for sale, drop in prices on current items, etc...only to find out it's someone posting to the thread that they received their tools in the mail. Why can't they just PM the seller to let them know about this? I DO NOT CARE TO READ FRANK GOT HIS TOOLS FROM BILL LIKE HE WAS SUPPOSED TO!

Now if there was a problem with getting their tools, i.e. the seller didn't ship them, then they can post in the seller's feedback thread or somewhere else to alert other members there may be a problem doing business with that seller.

Buyers----if you're posting in a thread to say you're sending a PM, say WHAT you are pm'ing the seller about. Just writing Sending PM and nothing else doesn't tell anyone else what you are interested in, so they have no idea what may or may not be spoken for.
