Had several loads of 60/40 brought in. I've got my foundation as level as I can get with my box blade. Just went and bought my rebar and form boards and I'm ready to get to work. I've seen lots of posts referring to laser levels. I'm trying to determine a price range I should be looking at vs. renting one. I've been looking on the net around the $200 range. A lot of the item descriptions refer to using the levels indoors. Can I find one for outdoor use in the $200 range? I don't mind spending a little money on this item because I know I will use it for future projects. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I have the PLS HVR505R It's a good unit. I bought the combo deal and got the height pole with it. I used the heck out of it while putting up my 60x64 shop.

How about checking into renting one? (or borrow) Our rental center rents very nice ones. Unless you do excavating for a living, it does not make sense to purchase one. IMO

If it's for a one-time job, maybe a water level would suffice?

I know, I know... Can't pass up the opportunity to buy a new tool! I do the same thing!
