You have to be a "red star member" to search! You have to pay $20 a year. I must say there is some very interesting discussion going on, but after participating in free message boards for many years, Id rather not sink any money into one in that manner. I regularly buy the merch sold on the Jalopyjournal, and am a HAMB alliance member, but I have gotten so much out of that site. I would join/buy in a similar fashion from Ryan if he offered such for this site. But being forced to pay to search past threads kind of a turn off to me.

I would however like to know what they think!

You can use Google to search Pirate - it is in the FAQ if you don't know how to do it - no need to pay to be a member. Basically, there is a lot of discussion - pro and con - and as I don't have a Ready Welder myself I figured it would be more worthwhile for someone to actually read through some of the threads themselves to get the information that they need.

Here are a few to get you started:

I carry one in my jeep for trail repairs, works good but really not practical with 1battery (12v) to weld anything over 1/8". Running it 24v and .35 wire (Lincoln's NR-211-MP seems to work the best) it should fix anything under 3/8". I can snap pics of welds made, ect if you want.

so why don't you guys just tell us what they think of this welder?

When I saw this, I thought of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer was getting the phone calls for the movie hot line and he says, "Why don't you just tell me the movie you want to see."

A buddy of mine bought one so I get to try it out before I buy!!

From everything I have read on pirate and and to the few guys that I have talked to via e-mails, these seem to be a really versatile, good welding unit. IF you have the battery power.

Good thing my truck is 24V with NO electronics and can run with out the batteries hooked up!
