I am well aware of the possibilities of destroying even a very high quality HSS drillbit by improper use.

But the pic shows an 8 mm " Pro Q TiN" treated one, bought at the dime counter for various goods.

"Used " in a equally lousy drill. And the flutes straightened and the drillbit was not even very warm.

If nothing else, it is funny.

I was "drilling" thru a steel sleeve with a nominal ID of 8,0 mm that had some rust, not more than 0,2 mm. ( Rubber bushing with steel sleeve, part of a VW front suspension)
As to the applied torque, it was not much , drill was a cheap battery powered no name.

I am still surprised. The "drill" is now displayed in the place where we keep weird stuff.

I actually lol'd. Seldom does that happen. Good stuff.
I've seen it once before. Years ago a friend bought a drill bit set from a TV "infomercial" and it was full of the same gold coated Chinese junk bits. Some of them just bent like plastic as soon as you put weight behind them. They were absolutely worst drill bits that I'd ever seen.

He was throwing them out anyway so I grabbed one to test in a small piece of mild steel. LOL, it did exactly the same as with the OP's bit. As the drill exited the back of the steel it snagged a little, as they often do, and literally untwisted itself just like that. I wish I had have kept it or taken a photo instead of throwing it straight in the trash. :)
