I need both SAE and Metric, even though my main job is an aircraft mechanic. Why you ask? Because when the the planes are off making money, the ground support equipment and vehicles need maintenance too. The GSE... is a pain in the ***. Chassis will be SAE, Engine will be metric.

Besides how much room does a set of sockets and wrenches really take up?

Souunds like you need a better way to organize your tools

Well, one set of wrenches and one set of sockets doesn't take up much space at all. However, how many people on this board have just that exact combination?

If you have shallow and long sockets in each drive size, a set of shallow and deep impact sockets in just one drive size, a set of combo wrenches, a set of flare nut wrenches, a set of offset box end wrenches, and a set of ratcheting combo wrenches, space disappears pretty quickly.

Organization is not the problem.

Just put them in a bucket or Carry box! You're going to get much out of them someday you will need them if you deserve to own a tool box, which I indeed think you do. You still never posted pics of the box. I'm a home diyer I have a 42" stack and a 26" stack. The bigger stack is full. The 26" stack is working on it.

First I had to get rid of reel to reel, then they made me give up my 8-tracks,then I had to give up my Beta, then those plastic cassettes, then I had to dump my phone books and now my sae darn what is the world coming to?

If you don't use them then dump them, as for me I still use them on my wood working machines so I still have a need. I guess the more things change the more they stay the same or something along those lines!:dunno:

exactly, a full set of SAE takes up what? a few drawers of a tiny top tool chest...thats maybe 3 cubic feet of space. We are not talking about alot of space unless your work space is the size of a broom closet.

Sorry sounds like organization is the problem if you cant justify a couple cubic feet for tools that are required on just about everything non auto related
