Ordered a noga deburring tool and it was taking forever to get here. When I checked tracking I found it was shipped from China.

I thought noga was made in Israel, are they producing deburr tools in China now?
Are counterfeit noga deburring tools a thing?
If so, how can I verify authenticity ?

Thanks,
-jd

I found one at a pawn shop. Didn't recognize the name, but it looked nice quality. Was fairly worn, and the model I had didn't have a replaceable blade, so I looked up the company for more info. I was surprised it was an Israeli company. But have no idea where their manufacturing is.

Good question,

I have several Noga's but older and their items are suppose to be coo from Israel. It could be two things, either Noga went cheap and now having their products made in China or two, China is knocking them off like they do with Mitutoyo digital calipers?

I looked on MSC Direct who is an authorized dealer and lists the deburs as Country of Orgin as Israel but also says subject to change.

So who knows? I will say in the past I've always been very impressed with Noga's quality; I use my Noga magnetic base everyday, I love it; hands down better quality than any other mag base I've used from the top guys.

I've seen deburring tools on Amazon that look like Nogas but don't say Noga on them, they aren't listed as Noga though.

On ebay I've seen replacement bits sold as Noga coming from China. I stay away from them cause being from China & lower cost I'm pretty sure they're counterfeit.

I've got a bunch of Noga mag base indicator holders & deburring tools. I got them from Enco, MSC, Travers, KBC, & All Industrial so I trust they are real. And was all way before I've seen the counterfeit stuff pop up but it's only certain deburring tools that I have seen counterfeited.

I got my new Noga deburring tool from a seller on eBay last year, and its COO was Israel. I'm not sure if I kept the box or not, but maybe the OP can post some pictures of the packaging when it arrives.

Yes, Noga has had a lock on the best magnetic bases out there for quite some time.

Although I haven’t bought any in the last year or two, I’ve got quite a few Noga deburring tools and they are all made in Israel. They clearly say so, either on the tool or the packing, or both.

I just had a quick look at a couple of U.K. websites that list the COO and it’s Israel for all the tools I checked.

While it’s not impossible that they’ve gone cheap, I think, given that the Chinese are already making knockoff / very similar tools, it’s not a huge step to simply stamp “Noga” on them if it makes them more money!

Whenever knockoff’s are around, you’re always safer to get whatever you need from a dealer you know the importer supplies. I tend to go for MSC, but there are many others.

I’ve seen every variety of fakery going on. I see tools that look “similar” to the genuine item, but are shite. I see tools advertised as the genuine item, maybe even using the makers picture, but you get the no name shite, and I’ve seen the said shite with an obviously fake name on.

Purchase is from Amazon. Listing says manufacturer is Noga

I have contacted Noga and they confirmed that they do not manufacture or sell from China and the tool is likely a fake

We will see when it arrives...

Thanks for doing that and checking with Noga, good info. Bummer that we need to look out for another knock off.

Let us know what you get and please post a pic.

First time I got ahold of a NOGA mag base it was like "where have you been all my life" They are the shiz. Opened up other use possibilities.
Your like hey OT idgit. Well hear me out .
So over winter we ordered a NOGA mag base for an odd shop need. While at it ordered a NOGA deburr to have an extra in an off work area. So they come in and disappointing. Neither had a COO that I remember. The deburr is OK but no more to be short. The Mag base has a cheap azz plastic dovetail clamp and it just feels, hooky. Not like my old NOGA's thats still mint to this day. So y'all might be onto something.
Also with regard to whilry burrs. The original Rout -a-burr is still king. My old original still works great and looking at new ones they haven't changed much. The telescoping feature and option to mount the burr 90 in the holder are just lifesavers. Once you go rout-a-burr you never go back.

One of the easiest ways to avoid counterfeits is to avoid Amazon. They've got a well documented problem with counterfeits and have largely taken the approach of just sticking their head in the sand and hoping for the best.

What Amazon the seller or was it a third party seller with Amazon shipping it?

Amazon comingles their inventory with third-party sellers' inventory. Even if you order "from" Amazon you still stand a risk of getting a fake.

Well I finally received the tool and put it to work, works just like the real thing.

Sent photos to Noga and they were able to trace the lot number on the package to a shipment to a large distributor in China. They agree that the tool is authentic.
