Real price difference between Morton and others

I keep hearing that Morton are great buildings but the price will cause a coronary occlusion. Is there a number we're talking about? Is it twice as much per sq ft as it's competitors? Assuming all options equal? I know this may b a really tough question to answer.

We got quotes from all the big named builders, local and some smaller named. Morton was the second highest. Not quite double what we ended up paying but very close. It was the difference from around $8-10$sq/ft to high teens for a Morton. If you live where there is no wind and no snow you can buy their cheaper line which is closer to $10. They have also dropped prices this year, conveniently after last year when you could deduct 100% of the building price off taxes.

From what I have seen you can take your average quote and multiply it by 1.5-1.75 and you will be close.

Morton was the cheapest for me. Cleary was 42,000. Wick was 42,000. Ragland was 37, Blunier was 37. Morton was 35. This is for there top line model not the country. I priced them out of curriosity. Told salesman that I figured they were way up there and was just curious. I ordered it last month. Best warranty and stuff from what I found after 4 months of shopping and stuff. 42x72x16

My morton was probably around $10K more than the nearest competitor. Before I bought I went around and looked at multiple buildings from every manufacturer we could find. All of the new buildings looked good. The thing that hit us was that all of the other buildings started to weather in a handful of years. The oldest morton that we saw(that was decades old) looked just as good as the new ones. So we decided that it was worth the extra money. As a side note, we live near the ocean so things weather here quicker than other places. One of the paint manufacturers actually weather test their products a few miles from my house.

First let me say that I KNOW Morton makes a great building, I grew up in IA and saw a lot of them. Having said that I don't think they are so much better to justify the huge additional cost. I just spent the last 6 months researching and getting quotes from several companies. I know how to compare specs., "apples and oranges" and found that there were very few differences in materials and construction.
To me it is like comparing a Chevy and a Cadillac. The Cadillac is just a Chevy with a few more bells and whistles but is built on the same basic platform and is pretty much the same quality.
My advice is to really compare the specs closely and talk to customers and do your homework, then make a decision based on facts NOT the image a company has cultivated.

Down in the south Blitz makes a good building.

Agreed, I got a quote from them and they were close, but more than National Barn for the same quality building. I went with National Barn in part because of testimonials and they sweetened the pot by adding at no charge scissor trusses, 16'x4' drop shed "porch" and rat guard.

Sorry to get off thread! I'm waiting for Ragland to start my build. 30x48. Didn't price Morton. Priced Cleary and Ragland. Ragland was higher but I felt I was getting a better building. Higher snow load, better wood. Was a little higher price. After signing found out Cleary could upgrade but was to late. I wish now I would have priced Morton I hear they have some good deals. I was scared of Mortons cheap buildings.
