$38 for a hole saw and it doesn't even include the arbor? It's not even carbide, just plain jane bi-metal.

The top-of-the-line drill I'm going to use to spin the damn thing only cost $150.

Buy a less expensive saw. Plenty make holes just like the Milwaukee ones at a lower price. Durability....well...use, abuse and material play big factors on any saw.

Just curious, but what's the value of the dril got to do with the value of the saw?

I absolutely would have bought a different saw if I had the time. Doesn't mean I need to be happy about getting hosed on this one.

All these Milwaukee fan boys thinking they cant go wrong and buying every drip of red they can is going to Milkys head (and pockets)

Most of their tools outside the M12/M18 offerings ie hand tools are a pass for me, and a hard pass at those ridiculous prices

For me I like the warranty Milwaukee offers on their hole saws, break teeth replaced. No one else offers this that I've heard. Also I don't like Lenox, kept having them split at the seam.

And that right there isnt a fan boy, but grounded logic and experience (y)

What are the competitors prices and warranty?
Klein - $24.44 for a bare saw
Diablo - $25.50 w/ quick release arbor adapter

Warranty on a hole saw is useless to me. If I need to cut a hole, I need to cut it now, not in 3 weeks when the warranty replacement arrives. Not to mention the time wasted getting the replacement approved and shipping the thing in. Just sell me a tool that doesn't **** for a reasonable price.

Also, the Milwaukee is garbage and is going back. The teeth are screwed up at the weld and it consistently rubbed and grabbed at that point. $38 for a steaming turd with a useless warranty.

And do you own other milwaukee products? Was milwaukee the only choice locally, or why did you choose it?

I chose it because it was the only 4-1/2" hole saw on the shelf at Home Depot and I was in a hurry.

Is there any particular reason you feel you're owed this information?

Sounds like you got a good deal on the drill. Maybe it's like the business model like the printers and toner cartridges. The device seems inexpensive, but the consumables are high profit.

It was regular price:

From what I can tell Milwaukee is trying to convince people their accessories are worth 50% more than the competition with a warranty that has almost zero practical value.

You started this thread just to complain and you are upset that someone is asking very relevant, reasonable questions that contribute meaningfully to the discussion?

I will say the Milwaukee Hole Dozer hole saws are much more durable and long lived than the Lennox, MK morse or other brands I've tried.

I used to use them all the time to put holes in stainless tanks and notch stainless pipe when I did process piping, and the Hole Dozers outlived the other saws 2:1 or even 3:1

They are a nice hole saw, worth the money IMO.

That said, if you're just cutting wood or something soft, a Lennox would be cheaper.

Not really, just always curious about where reviews are coming from. For instance if you already owned a bunch of Milwaukee tools and felt this way about another Milwaukee product, I might interpret the feelings differently then say if you were a dedicated Dewalt fan, and possibly hated Milwaukee.

But regardless of the brand, the most expensive should have a reason for being the most expensive, and in this case there is no reason other then brand name!

I have a 4 inch Milwaukee hole saw that works fine and didn't cost an insane amount of money. I also have a massive Milwaukee drill that I bought broken for a dollar and repaired. When I worked construction all of my cordless tools were Milwaukee, but that was back in the Atlas Copco days.

These days my cordless tools are Makita, corded include the aforementioned Milwaukee, DeWalt, Fein, Craftsman and a few others. Most of my hole saws are Diablo/Freud, which work great and have disappeared from Home Depot.

I was up until 11 last night trying to get a toilet reinstalled and my back is killing me.

It's possible I'm a bit cranky.

I've pretty much sworn off SBD brands. I prefer Diablo/Freud for hole saws but Home Depot has stopped carrying them. I may have to bite the bullet and buy a set rather than buying them as I need them. The Diablo quick-change arbor system is sweet.

Edit: Lowe's wants the same $38 for the 4-1/2 Lennox hole saw!

I think I'm just going to order this and be done with it:
