Really, more tools?

That was my initial thought when I pulled in the driveway and saw this ugly blue toolbox somebody left at the garage door. I figured somebody didn't want it anymore and since I seem to have a reputation in the neighborhood, they abandoned it with me. I went to pick it up...and couldn't. Opened it up and whoa, it's full...to the top full. I managed to get it on the lift cart, brought it inside and started going through it. Looks like it belonged to a mechanic that worked for Bolens Ford in New York back in the 80's.

I saw the Snap On logo, but have never seen that style logo and was thinking someone was trying to pass off a fake.





a diamond broach was inside a glass bottle with some loose diamonds (tiny). I'll take it to a friend that knows gems on Monday.

The haul, so far. I'm still going through it. Alot of vintage tools, more for my collection.

The Box - Pulling out the drawers exposed the original color which appeared to be an olive drab, vintage style. With the bottom drawer out I saw another piece, pulled it out and realized it was a fold down cover... with "snap on" embossed in it, Hmmm, maybe it's not a fake.
Found it on collectingsnapon.com. K-5, Snap On's 5th toolbox made from 1931 - 1939
Earlier today a neighbor wandered over and confessed to leaving the box, said it's been in his garage forever and was tired of tripping over it.
BTW, the tools, mostly Snap On & Blue Point vintage.

The neighbor and his wife are good people. They lived across the street for years, then 2007 hit, they both lost their jobs and almost the house. Bubba (his real name) started a business cleaning out repo'd houses, got his real estate license , at a time when everyone was running from real estate, started specializing in repossessed homes and how to sell them. Within 3 years, he and Bev, his wife, became experts in the field and are now CEO of a multi-million dollar business lecturing and training real estate agents. They moved to St. Louise area and let their daughter and son in law stay at the house, which they totally trashed . So, after evicting them, my friends are back for a week or 2 doing repairs, which will be the perfect way for me to repay them. Monday 1st thing will be rebuilding a new gate to the backyard, then some house painting.

zeroes hit it right on the head. I tool was conjuring up a scene in my head of some young wrench climbing on boar nan old snap on truck and figuring he could make a few payments and that beautiful box would be his.

Very cool, congrats. Hard to see in the pics but did you get the front cover with the box? Looks like it is tucked in the bottom compartment like a machinist box. With that badge style I think that is one of the latest ones, probably early 40's. The ones from the 30's didn't have that style of badge. I'm curious if the front panel has stamped letters or not.
