A great way to reduce your electricity bill each month. And lose a few pounds too!

I've had the idea for some time to make a lathe similar to this. An old car flywheel and some sort of ratcheting mechanism are part of the scheme. Nice to see that I am mentally reinventing something from the mid-1800's.

Notice how Roy Underhill is out of breath peddling and talking?

Seems like I've seen peddle powered jig saw and drill

My grandfather operated a custom furniture and cabinet shop in the SF bay area from about the late teens until 1955. His first table saw was foot powered. I couldn't help but wonder if this was his old saw as its present location is just a short drive from his old shop. There apparently were never any pictures taken of his saw, but I've heard the story told many times at family gatherings.

I'm guessing it was used for small stuff in a old production shop? Can't be many of those
Around. Maybe furniture or frames of some sort. Probly handy for small stuff. Neat. Think your right beach.
