Reason to keep a garage door spring?

I just replaced the torque master garage door spring. Is there/are there any decent projects/side fun that I could use this thing with? There’s a new build down the street and I’m ready to take it to the dumpster but I want to make sure I’m not throwing away potentially usefulness or fun. Lol

Can I rig it up to my kids pedal car and make it super powered?

Thinking about it, I could make a big “push back” car.
Might have to mess with some gear ratio stuff but it could work, right.
So I think I’ll throw the broken half out and cut down the “container sleeve” to a feasable length.

The tube is probably 16 feet long, but the spring is only about 4.

Trash. It doesn't go illegally in someone elses dumpster - take it to be recycled if you don't have curbside single stream which allows steel.

I'd leave it out next to the trash can, some scrappers will come by soon and take it off your hands.

Remember that it is a torsion spring - not an extension spring so that really limits the uses. As someone mentioned before - a drive for a wind up car. Push it backwards with a real car - a little more - a little more - oh cmon more!
Now put the car in drive and floor it!

On further thought - this is the perfect application for a come-along (and beer of course).
