Hey guys,

What's everybody think about using 3/8" rebar spaced at 2' with 3500 lb concrete with leftover remesh thrown in? Think it will hold up or should I tighten the spacing to 18". The shop will be 24 x 30. I'm using 5/8 in the footings. Holler back ya'll

IIRC 18" is the max spacing allowd by ACI318 but its been a while since I took that course, I'll dig through and try to find my code book

It depends on the type of concrete, load placed on the concrete, and the substrate under it. If you really want to know if it will "hold up" contact a civil or structural engineer, or an architect.

The cost for a bit more rod in a building that size would be rather insignificant, a little overkill would be cheaper than engineering.
