I have a sanborn "5hp" 20 gallon compressor in my shop. The thing does good for what it is but I need a bit more. its belt driven and I am very familar with true hp ratings rpms pulley ratios and all that but not where to buy stuff. I know I could get a ****** compressor and tank but I dont need a bigger tank I need a bigger motor and pump. Perhaps a 2 stage pump so I can raise the pressure and have more volume after its regulated down. Any insight on where to get components would be great. I can weld and fabricate anything to make it work easily.

At the pricing of a new sanborn 2 stage 80 gallon, you would likely be spending almost the same in new pump, 5 hp motor, sheaves, possibly switch o handle higher psi. Not worth it. By a new sanborn and sell the one you have and up I could actually be ahead money wise and definitely time wise.

I mean I can get a super impressive eaton pump and true 5hp motor for around 700 together, still less than a new compressor. I mean with all the little parts im sure it would end up being closer to the same price but this way i know I have 2 quailty pieces of the puzzle.
