Any good resources for rebuilding old drill/driver battery packs? Is it possible to switch them over to lithium? Have a couple of older oddball drills that don't have knockoffs available. I can solder but don't have a lot of electronics experience.

Or are there any good places that do this as a service?

I've used this place before with zero issues. http://www.hoffasbatteries.com/ He is also on e-bay.....

I need to rebuild couple more 18 volt Milwaukee batteries in the near future and will buy them from him. It took 5 minutes for me to change out the battery packs.

My Dad used to grab the discarded batteries from the box at the local Ace hardware, Take them apart and make good ones for himself.

The local "Batteries Plus" store soldered a pack for me. I bought the batts there and the owner soldered them while I waited. They are a franchise so I don't know if it's a standard service or just this store owner. Might be worth checking if you have a store nearby.

took a battery pack for my Warn Pullzall in to interstate batteries
24v 3500mA
they told me $100.
I can buy a new pack at Northern for about $20 more.

My workplace uses Batteries Plus, and I have used them a few times myself.
Personally I've had- cordless tool batteries rebuilt, battery replacement in an S7 phone, and I get all my disposable batteries there. They're not giving stuff away, but I've always had positive results and cost savings there.

Disclaimer- I'm not affiliated with them in any way. Just a happy customer.
They are a franchise. So your local experience may differ.

Don't rebuild NiCd's - replace them with NiMH. Vastly superior in all respects, and will work with your NiCd charger. I did this with my 30+ year old Milwaukee drills- better than new. I got mine from Tenergy (sub-C size) - just got another batch to do another NiCd pack. I got them with solder tabs welded on. Installation is very easy with just a soldering iron.
