Red wings are not made in china to my knowledge, They did thou make some in Mexico. That has ended, and their all shoes are made state side now. They own their own leather tannery in red wing, MN.

I think the point was made that $200 Red wings don't hold up any better that a Over-seas made shoe

You can go on the Red Wing website and see exactly where every shoe is made. Some are fully foreign made, some are made in USA with foreign materials, and some are fully made in USA with American materials.

When the company I worked for was selling Red Wings I actually some domestic styles move production to China. They would change the number when production went to China. Case in point, style 6681 was changed to 6683. Identical boot, but now Chinese made, and for the same price. Some manufacturers are actually making new styles in the US. Weinbrenner is making new all American styles in WI with American hides. The old belief that Red Wings are all American is no longer true...much like Craftsman hand tools.

As for the original question, I just got new steel toed Red Wing boots this summer; my model is on the list but fortunately not my size.
