I'm looking to buy a new engine hoist. I want something that will last. My price range is about $300. I'm in Northern California, all suggestions welcome, thanks!

I have owned the HF one that failed on me on the 2nd use. I owned an air operated one from Pepboys that I lent out and was left outside in the rain, really liked that one but looks like they stopped carrying it.

I just got a 2 ton Torin folding engine crane, I'm happy with it, I just used it to lift a 6 cylinder Cummins engine out of my truck on the the 1000 lb setting there was never an issue.

Over the past year I have used my HF 2 ton about 10 or 15 times for various things, maybe 3 engine pulls, ***** yours lasted only 2. Best $144 I spent there.

I have used a couple HF ones, I had the better one bookmarked but I cant find it right now, they were very good and well fabricated, near flawless welding, perfect fit.

+1 I got mine on sale at Pep Boys. I have had the 460 in and out of the mustang with the trans attached (about 1000lbs) several times and it doesn't even breath hard.

OP: what failed on the HF unit? maybe warrantable? other than the hydraulic leaking, or a weld breaking, they are pretty simple items.

I've seen cranes fail where the frame collapses at the point where the hydraulic ram is attached the leverage just causes it to fold in half none of the times I've seen that had the cranes exceeded their stated capacity either.
