Where is the cheapest place you guys have bought receiver tubing material from?

I'm thinking of adding a few receivers to my welding table. Cheapest I've found was 60 for 4 of them shipped.

Really I don't NEED the actual receiver, I could use a smooth Ias square tubing. Does this material have a specific name to search?

You have a welding table and you don't buy stock anywhere?
Any local metal supply place.

Most lacal place don't sell small peices, usually in 24 foot lengths. The ones that do, sell for a premium and it's almost cheaper to buy the 24 foot.

At the most, I'm only looking for 4 foot.

I make mine out of 2-1/2" tubing, 3/16" wall. You can ask for a drop at the steel supply. They may have one. Otherwise just bite the bullet and buy a length. It's not that expensive.

Where in SE Michigan are you? I know of a fab shop that sells drops at a reasonable price ($0.55/pound). They probably have what you need on the rack. Send me PM if you want the info. Its in the metro Detroit area.

I'm in metro Detroit area in Macomb County. I will give them a call tomorrow if you can send me the info. Most of the drops I have been able to find are regular 2 inch tubing with the weld on the ID.

If you have a Metal Supermarket nearby, they have drops at reasonable prices.....made several receivers and the price was not a drawback.

The Harbor Freight reciever tubes are NOT true receiver tubing! These "HaulMaster" tubes still have a large weld seam in the middle of the tube, it's just sloppy enough that 2" tube fits.

I couldn't find any at the local steel supply either. I bought some from Amazon. It's much better value to buy the longer lengths and cut them into smaller.

You can also try truck suppliers. Near me, one place is called B&D Truck Hoist. They deal with mainly big rig and dump truck repair, but also sell all kinds of metals as well.

We have a trailer parts place, they sell axles and fenders,etc... I bought the female and male tube there for our two tables. They sold it by the foot too.
See if you have a trailer supply type place.
