Apparently, I didn't have notifications turned on for this thread — apologies for not responding sooner.
The other thing to consider for a low-rise might be the MaxJax. For me, once I had a two-post lift I could never go back to something like a 4-post if I was using it for service work.
I considered a MaxJax. I drilled a test hole, and I have 4.5" of concrete at that spot, so ok, but not much room for any thickness variations. Not interested in cutting up the floor. Also, depending on the car, I can utilize the 10' height, lifting over 5'. This works on smaller cars when the "greenhouse" is not under the beam.
Has something changed at BP in the last 10 years that you can't go by older reviews? Also, it sounds to me like you need to decide whether ANY 4-post lift will work for you with the 8.5' max height because of the beam. If you're not using it for storage, a 2-post is easier to get the car off its suspension.
I don't know, haven't seen many recent reviews, it's why I asked the question. I have a sliding bridge jack from the last four-post I owned, an extra step but easy to lift an end of the car off the ramps. I recently moved, left the lift but took the jack.
Thanks for all the responses. Shooting to get something in January.
