Just thought I would share my recent experience. I don't have a local Mac dealer despite living in a highly populated area, so I mailed in a couple tools. I did not contact them via phone or email, I simply mailed them in.

the Ratchet was beat. but with a rebuild kit it would have been fine. Mac was good enough to send me a new one though.

The socket was cracked badly in two places, with metal peeled back. I received a new one.

I mailed both with a note and my address last Monday. Exactly one week later I received a padded mailer with both replacement tools in an plastic bag together. Not the best packaging, but I certainly cannot complain. I am pretty happy with my latest Mac experience.

I have an old Mac 1/4" ratchet that is missing the detent ball. I have been wondering how to go about warrantying this as I don't have a Mac guy readily available.

They're really good about warranty if you take 10 seconds to make it easier on the folks processing them. I sent in a 3/8" locking extension that would no longer lock sockets on. Just sent it in with a note that had the part number and description of the issue. Had a brand new one in about a week, IIRC.

By the way, MAC 30 tooth ratchets do very well on Permatex 81950. It'll make it run so smooth, you'll think you have a totally different ratchet.

Either that's a gigantic socket, or the ratchet is 1/4 drive; I don't know which.

It's both! 1/4 ratchet, and 1/2" drive 10mm socket.

Nice. I will definitely pick some of that up. The Mac stuff is nice, but a bit clunky.

I just followed the directions on their website for Warranty claims. It probably is smart to include part numbers and issue descriptions. I only included my address and a 'you guys and your tools are great' note. It says on the website that it's like a 3 week turn-around, but I had mine back in a week.

I would honestly just contact them first. If they are like Snap on, they may just tell you not to send it in on a small item or offer to pay for shipping.
