Hey guys...hope you can help!

I want to put a recessed LED light, maybe 4" in my ceiling above the shower-tub combo.

Can you guys recomend anything?

Was at home depot and no help there...left more confused than when i went in!

I asked about if the fixture should be for a shower and guy said dont matter??

I thought it would be better if it was?...being in the wet and all.

It will be on a gfci of course...

Thanks for any help. dave.

I recollect some CREE units are rated for over the shower. When I build a home for folks and LED lighting is used we order from Polar Ray out of Boulder, Colorado; and have always experienced phenomenal customer service.

The EcoSmart's at HD are the best value, IMO. I just bought 12 more 4" for my upstairs at $25 a piece, but they're still great at the $42 regular price. They are extremely high quality (rebranded CREE) with the best color rendition (warm, opinion!), dimmability and light output.

Both the 4" recessed and 6" recessed are damp/wet rated and will work wonders in a shower.

AGREED! For a while, the local power company was subsidizing those, and they were as low as $23 each here. Right now they're up to $35, and I believe that is the price nationally. They started at $50, but the price has been slowly dropping over the past few years.

I have four in my kitchen, and if I could convert the rest of my house to them, I would. The light is just as good as an incandescent, although when dimmed it does not get orange, so it casts a sort of moonlight when fully dim.

I remodeled a real pitiful old and moldy basement bathroom not long ago and I wanted to make something really special. I created a tile and glass block shower with backlit LED blocks that really work quite well.

The whole slideshow is below and you can step through the methods that I used.
The LED lighting was all Puck Lights, but not the new high intensity ones you can get today. They simply were not available then. The lights are all 12v so there is no 110v anywhere near the shower interior itself. The lights are totally sealed in and not subject to any moisture.

A special moisture-resistant recessed lighting fixtures are required to be used in the bathroom for safety because the area is exposed to high moisture and humidity. So, always remember that you should not use regular trims in the bathroom.
