Recessed light spring held tricks?

Installed these and then went up in the attic and installed insulation. This easily pushed the spring retained lights out of the holes a little bit. Although these spring arms hurt like hell when you snap on yourself, they don't seem to hold well. Any tricks to hold them up above the drywall better? Last resort i'll put wood on top of them and insulate around the wood. I'm used to solid not moving boxes and i'm thinking these will be an issue after enough vibration.

Maybe place something under the clip on the top side to pull the up a bit more?

I have a similar issue with a couple, but don't have access from above

Put a dab of silicone adhesive on top of each clip. It will be difficult to lower fixture for service, but the silcone will break free.

slip a 1/4" shim under the springs. doesn't need much
I'll give this a try. I was thinking more complicated ways but this easy idea should do it. Maybe they are designed for 3/4 or 5/8 ceilings in mind and my 1/2 inch isnt thick enough.

Yep. Designed for 5/8". Plus, the Amazon brands have flimsy springs.

Even the halo fixtures I use are pretty inconsistent. I recently installed 5 and two are loose. I need to pull them down to get some shims glued in, but the ceiling is all the way up there.

After this last round, I'll have shims on hand for any future installs
