I'm looking at adding some more lighting to my garage. The house is a new build 3 car garage with 3 sets of flourescent lights already up.

So I'm curious which lights would be better to put up for both energy usage and usable light.

Recessed (can lighting) with LED or CFL bulbs

or

T8's

I think the biggest difference is the look and feel. The can lights have a more modern/showroom/upscale feel IMO. The linears are more "shop-like". I went with the linear T8. I thought the wiring/drywalling would be simpler with the surface-mount, raceway-rated T8 fixtures.

Also, while looking it seemed that the price per lumen for high-CRI, full spectrum lamps was far lower for F32T8 than CFL. However, given how long they both last, this may not really matter much.
