When we built our house about 20 yrs ago, I painted the new concrete floor with a Sears two-part floor epoxy in a gray color. It's a dull color, no shine and no color particles mixed in. It's held up very well, still adheres with no flaking, but is dirty and really needs a repaint. How do I recoat over this with one of the modern two-part coatings?

Rick:

Lightly sand the surface, vacuum well and give a solvent wipe prior to coating.
Use a 100% solids top-coat (less chance of a bad reaction).

Good luck.

I agree with Scotty, also, if there is any coating that is loose or peeling, make sure you remove it before applying another product.

Add this step: Clean it before you sand it, otherwise you're just grinding the contaminates into the surface.
